Executive Education: The Evolution of Structured Transactions

Public Course Delivery Method: Classroom Course
Duration of Course: 1.5 days

About this Course

The secondary market is going through unprecedented times with private-labeled mortgage backed securities grinding to a halt. This year has been a defining period for the structured finance industry. How did we arrive at the situation we are in today, what is still working and what does the future hold for structured finance as it relates to the mortgage industry?

Join a panel of industry experts and academics including:

  • Tom Millon, CMB, CFA, President, Capital Markets Cooperative
  • Philip Giles, Ph.D., Professor of Finance and Economics,
    Columbia University Graduate School
  • Griff Straw, CMB, 2008 Chairman, CMB Society,
Master Faculty Fellow, CampusMBA School of Mortgage Banking and
Regional Vice President, United Guaranty Residential Insurance
  • Peter Taglia, CMB, Master Faculty Fellow, CampusMBA School of Mortgage Banking and Vice President, FTN Financial
The course faculty reviews the events of the last six months and present scenarios for the future of structured transactions.

This 1.5 day executive education workshop addresses secondary responsibilities, the global credit market, mortgage-backed securities, collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), mortgage pools, risk management and arbitrage. In addition, the program explores the fundamentals of structured finance, the evolution of structured transactions and the impact of international markets and subprime lending on the MBS and CDO market.
